We celebrated WN Foods’ 75th anniversary with a series of fun BBQs. Every month in the summer, we were surrounded by fresh food, great conversation, and good friends new and old. We hope all our guests enjoyed these parties as much as we did!

5 Food Trends For 2018

2018Food Trends

One of the things we love most about being in the food industry is that it’s always evolving. Every year, we get to watch the way consumer tastes change and expand. Let’s see what foodie experts predict will be popular in 2018!

Alternative Milks

Trend milk

Because many consumers are switching to plant-based diets, alternative milks are set to be a major player in this year’s food scene. This includes more popular plant-based milks such as almond milk and coconut milk, but also lesser-known alternatives like hemp milk and flax milk.

Authentic Ethnic Cuisine

Trend ethnic

In 2017, consumers started cautiously venturing into ethnic foods. In 2018, they’ve fully embraced it and now they want the real deal, including authentic spices and condiments. Middle Eastern and Filipino foods will be especially trendy in restaurants.

Vegetable Carb Substitutes

Trend veggie

Americans are always looking for ways to reduce carbs, and thanks to machines like the spiralizer, they’re beginning to do this by eating vegetable noodles instead of traditional pasta. There are already some very impressive recipes available for this trend.

Fermented Foods

Trend ferment

Fermented foods used to be scary to the average person, but not anymore. Fermented ingredients like tempeh, kefir, and kimchi are predicted to be a 2018 “superfood”, especially among health food enthusiasts and consumers conscious of their gut health.

Sustainable Seafood

Trend fish

Seafood never really goes out of style, but this year, sustainable seafood is in the spotlight. Consumers want to enjoy the fruits of the ocean, but they also want to make sure we’re preserving its valuable resources.
