Our Staff’s Favorite WN Foods Sauces

Even though we’re surrounded by sauces all day, we still absolutely love what we make! Even at home, we use our own products in our personal cooking all the time. Here are our staff’s favorite WN Foods sauces.

Margaret, Marketing Manager

“I think my favorite would be the gochujang, which is the Korean fermented pepper base sauce. Several reasons why I enjoy this particular product—it’s a ubiquitous sauce, meaning that you can use it for anything and everything. You can use it for your stir fry, in your fried rice; you can use it for your soup, you can use it as a dipping sauce. It’s extremely versatile, and I also like the special, authentic Korean fermented pepper, the authentic goodness that’s being put into this particular formula.”

Bernadette, R&D Manager

“Any type of sauce that we work from scratch… for example, General Tsao. We actually had the chance to develop like 5 or 6 different kinds of formulas, and all the clients were happily asking me for more different kinds. So that’s a blessing, and it’s a joyful moment for me!”

Hanh, Project Manager

“My favorite sauces here are hoisin sauce, curry, and sriracha.”

Linda, Office Manager

Dipping Sauces of the World

Dipping Sauces of the World

Here at WN Foods, we believe that life is more beautiful with dipping sauces. Plain old chips or bland fries can be completely transformed with the right one. That must be why so many cultures around the world have their own. Let’s take a look at a few of the world’s dipping sauces!

Ponzu Sauce

This Japanese sauce is simple, but extremely flavorful and versatile. Soy sauce and lemon juice aren’t a combination we’re used to in the US, but believe us when we say that it’s amazing, and pairs well with everything from gyoza to shabu shabu.

Curry Ketchup

Curry ketchup is a spiced ketchup popular all around Europe, but especially Germany. It’s typically served with fries or meat, and is a hit because of its complex but approachable flavor. If you’re bored of plain old ketchup, definitely give this one a try!

Lingonberry Sauce

You may know this sauce from a certain Swedish furniture chain. Lingonberry sauce is a tart dipping sauce from Sweden, often paired with meatballs. We know it sounds like an unusual flavor combination, but it’s really delicious!

Tahini

This dipping sauce is popular worldwide, from the Mediterranean to the Middle East. It’s made of ground sesame seeds and is served with anything from falafel to raw vegetable slices. What would you eat tahini sauce with?

Sweet & Sour Sauce

Sweet & sour sauce is an iconic Chinese condiment, usually used with chicken or as a dipping sauce for egg rolls. We can’t get enough of the rich, tangy flavor. That’s why we started selling our sweet & sour sauce in bottles in our online store!

Have you tried any of these dipping sauce before? Which one would you like to try first?

Favorite WN Foods Moments

WN Foods has been in business since 1942. That’s 76 years worth of happy moments and fun times with our family and our loyal partners! We know it’s hard to pick favorites, but let’s take a look at some of our staff’s most fond memories.

Bernadette: “I always enjoy creating new sauces: starting from scratch, sourcing new concepts and required ingredients, making bench top samples, and testing product specifications to make sure they achieve the product’s safety and also sensory tasting to achieve the best quality, of course. However, the absolute best moments for me are looking at people’s face as they enjoy the sauces I create. I was very happy to have the opportunity to create more than 20 sauces for ECRM Private Brand Food Show event in 2015 – I remember one of the happiest moments was when I found out that one of the sauces (Thai Red Curry) I made got picked as the winner, and WN Foods was honored with 2015 Buyer’s Taste Award.”

Linda: “My best moment at WN Foods is when I received a big gold coin for my 30 years services anniversary award from the company. This award will always remind me of the company’s appreciation.”

Gregory: “One of the great moments (of many) that I remember is when we had a production issue and the customers truck was waiting at our dock to pick up the product. The original estimate was that it would take a week solve the problem and have the product ready to ship. The customer couldn’t wait that long, so the entire WN team came together to fix the problem in 24 hours. Every person from every department volunteered to help and worked as a team to meet the needs of the customer. The customer received their product on time and I was never more proud of the entire WN staff.”

Kiana: “My favorite moment at WN Foods was the 70th anniversary party. We held a big party with all our friends and family where we got to enjoy fresh meals from food trucks, impressive lion dances, and heartfelt speeches from our staff. It was really touching, and I’ll always remember it.”

Hanh: “Every year, we always look forward to the WN Foods annual Christmas party. One of my favorite moments is the Christmas party of 2016 when Kiana pulled my name from the drawing box to win a TV, and Gregory thought Kiana and I worked together to rig the drawing.”

Peter: “My favorite moment at WN Foods would be lunch time of everyday. We get to wind down, sit and discuss about anything whether it be about our family issues, if we gained weight, jokes, etc. Sometimes all the female workers talk about their womanly issues like I am not there (laughs).”

Margaret: “In 2014, we had an event to celebrate Jon’s retirement. Prior to the event, countless hours were poured into planning by the whole office as well as the operations crew. Team members prepared every detail during office hours and over the weekends with nothing but smiles and best efforts. True teamwork was at play for this celebration with 200 friends & colleagues & business partners. On the day of the event, what we witnessed were all the happy memories of an devoted employee who have given 30 years of service to the company, and what he got in return was all the love and life long friendship by the peers and suppliers and clients. But most of all, the deep appreciation and heart felt love from the owner’s family. That, to me, is priceless and that’s what sets this company apart from many other business. It’s got soul. Therefore, it has been and always be one of my favorite moments of my years in this big family.”

Huge thanks to our team for taking a walk down memory lane. It’s fun to reminisce, isn’t it? Readers, do you have any favorite WN Foods moments? If so, please share them with us!

Just reading the word “curry” elicits sensations of spice and heavenly aromas. It’s a dish so widely adored that many countries have adopted it and adjusted it to local tastes. As a result, you can now treat your tastebuds to a wide range of unique curries. Let’s take a look at a few!

Indian Curry

The origins of curry lie in India, where recipes vary heavily depending on the region. At its base, Indian curry is a luxurious, spicy sauce made of several spices such as turmeric, cilantro, and cumin. It’s a highly versatile condiment that can be put on meat, seafood, or vegetables and served with rice or bread. Each regional variation of Indian curry differs based on which types of ingredients are available in the area. This means you could travel all over India and try a different type of curry in every region!

Thai Curry

Thai curry gets its distinct flavor from its use of fresh herbs, chili peppers, lemongrass, ginger, and shallots. It is often served with meat or seafood and a side of rice. However, there are many variations in ingredients, which is why red, green, and yellow curries all exist in Thai cuisine. Try them all and see which ones you like!

Japanese Curry

Though it was brought over from abroad, curry has become so deeply ingrained in Japanese cuisine that the Japanese consider it a comfort food and eat it at least once a week! It is thicker and sweeter than its Indian counterpart, and almost always mixed with carrots, potatoes, onions, and meat. It is most commonly served with rice, but you can also find it inside fried bread buns or with udon noodles.

These are just a few of the curries you can find around the world. There are many many others, each with their own unique tastes and ingredients. Here at Wing Nien, we like them all so much that we can’t decide which one we like best! Which one is your favorite?
